The Founder, Nermin Walker PhD

For as long as I can remember, I’ve felt a deep calling: to help girls of color know their worth and the power of their own voice. That calling shaped every step I took—from becoming an educator and therapist, to researching the disproportionate sex trafficking of Black girls for my doctoral dissertation, to traveling the world advocating for girls’ access to education.

But over time, I began to see an even bigger picture:
Those girls grow up into women—still hurting.
Still silenced. Still carrying trauma in their bodies and stress in their bones.
Still battling preventable chronic conditions.
And still being told to just “be strong.”

Then everything shifted for me personally.

At just 2 years old, my daughter Ava was diagnosed with an endocrine disorder. That moment cracked something open in me. I dove deep into plant-based nutrition, holistic healing, and the hidden toxins all around us. I didn’t want to just manage her condition— I wanted to understand how to protect her future.

What frustrated me most was realizing that in over 20 years of dealing with hormonal issues, no one had ever told me about the power of whole-food plant-based nutrition or the impact of environmental toxins on my overall health.
Not when I struggled with both physical and mental health throughout my 20s and 30s.
Not navigating gestational diabetes during my second pregnancy.
And definitely not after Ava’s diagnosis.

Then, during my postpartum year with my second daughter, Eden, everything I had been learning came into sharper focus. That season cracked me open in the most sacred and unexpected way.

Just like a seed has to break open for the root to emerge, God began healing me from the inside out on another level. Ironically, even after years of therapy and thinking I had already “healed,” (not that it's a linear journey) it was my plant-based journey that made my healing truly holistic—connecting the dots between my mind, body, and spirit in ways I had never experienced before.

Reclaiming my health wasn’t just about what I ate—it was about reclaiming my voice, letting go of fear, and choosing to live in anticipation of what’s possible when I care for myself fully and show up with clarity and courage each day.

I lost 40 pounds postpartum by embracing a whole-food plant-based lifestyle—but more importantly, I gained the energy to show up for myself, my family, and my purpose—which now includes you.
